EV Charging Stations
In a major step toward clean transportation and sustainable energy, the Sindh government has approved a proposal to install more than 600 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the province in collaboration with China’s ADM Group. This marks one of the largest EV-infrastructure rollouts in Pakistan’s history.
The approval came during a meeting chaired by Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, attended by Malik Group CEO Malik Khuda Baksh and adviser Naeem Qureshi. The plan has now been forwarded to Special Secretary Syed Muhammad Ali Shah for immediate execution, including identification of suitable sites and groundwork. A follow-up meeting with ADM Group CEO Yasir Bhambhani will take place in early December to finalize operational details.

A Province-Wide Network: 600 EV Charging Stations Across Cities and Highways
Under the new initiative, the charging stations will be installed not only in major urban centers such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas, but also along key highways to support long-distance EV travel. The entire project will operate under a public–private partnership (PPP) model, ensuring both government backing and private-sector investment.
This large-scale expansion will significantly boost Pakistan’s EV ecosystem, which currently lacks widespread charging access.
Why the Project Is a Breakthrough for Pakistan’s EV Future
1. Solving Pakistan’s EV Charging Gap
A shortage of accessible and reliable charging stations has been one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption in Pakistan. With more than 600 new stations planned, the province aims to eliminate range anxiety, encourage EV ownership, support private and commercial EV fleets, and lay the foundation for long-term green mobility.
2. Alignment with National EV Goals
The project supports Pakistan’s National EV Policy, which targets increased EV sales, reduced carbon emissions, and a shift away from fossil fuels. Sindh’s investment in charging infrastructure moves the country closer to achieving those goals.
3. Environmental Impact
Major cities in Sindh face chronic air pollution. Encouraging EV adoption can significantly reduce tailpipe emissions, improve air quality, lower noise pollution, and contribute to a cleaner urban environment.

ADM Group’s Expanding Role in Pakistan’s EV Landscape
ADM Group, known for its involvement in EV manufacturing and energy solutions, is expanding its footprint in Pakistan through this project. The collaboration is expected to attract further international investment, create skilled jobs in engineering and energy sectors, and support long-term growth of Pakistan’s EV industry.
Technical Outlook: How the Charging Stations Will Work
While the full specifications are yet to be released, the project is expected to include modern charging technologies such as:
- DC fast chargers (50kW to 120kW) for rapid charging on highways
- AC chargers (7kW to 22kW) for slow and semi-fast charging in malls, offices and urban spaces
- App-enabled smart systems providing real-time charger availability, online payments, and digital receipts
- Solar-powered integration to reduce operational costs and carbon footprint
These stations will be designed to support both private EV owners and commercial fleets, making long-distance electric travel in Sindh more practical than ever.
Planned Locations and Connectivity
The Sindh Local Government Department will identify locations based on factors such as traffic volume, charging demand, accessibility, and road safety. Key routes being considered include:
- M9 Karachi–Hyderabad Motorway
- N-5 National Highway
- Karachi Northern Bypass
- Sukkur–Hyderabad corridor
This strategic placement will ensure efficient coverage throughout the province.
Economic and Industry Benefits
The introduction of 600 EV charging stations will benefit multiple sectors:
For EV Owners:
Better charging access, lower operational costs and increased confidence in owning an EV.
For Manufacturers & Importers:
Higher demand for EVs and increased market stability.
For Startups & Tech Companies:
New opportunities in EV software, charging apps, payment platforms and fleet management solutions.
For the Economy:
More jobs, advanced technical training, foreign investment and long-term innovation.
