Major remodeling of Faizabad Interchange started, costing Rs. 200 Million

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during his late-night visit to the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass Project discussed the proposed remodeling of Faizabad Interchange.

Work on the project and widening of Murree Road on both sides from near Lake View Park to the underpass continues at a full pace. CDA is executing it as part of Serena Interchange project, which was completed in February this year.

During his visit, he expressed satisfaction with the pace of the project and directed that it be completed within the set timeline.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the stretch from Jinnah Square to Faizabad Chowk would be developed as a model road. He instructed that this road should include beautiful lighting and proper landscaping to enhance its appearance and improve the driving experience for commuters.

Regarding the Faizabad Interchange, which connects Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Minister Naqvi directed that remodeling work should begin soon. He said that the interchange would be widened to improve traffic movement between the twin cities.

Major Upgrade: Faizabad Interchange Expansion 

The Faizabad Interchange, a critical junction that connects Islamabad with Rawalpindi, is set for a major overhaul. This traffic hub handles thousands of vehicles every day and often faces serious congestion. 

Key Features of the Expansion: 

• Addition of two new lanes 

• Widening of existing roads 

• Improved design to reduce bottlenecks 

The major intention behind this upgrade is to make improvement in the flow of traffic for commuters between the twin cities, making daily travel safer and quicker. 

Minister Naqvi emphasized that all construction must consider future city growth, ensuring that the designs are both practical and forward-thinking. 

“Our goal is to make Islamabad a world-class city in terms of public facilities and infrastructure,” said Mohsin Naqvi.

Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, briefed the minister during the visit. He informed that work on the underpass is progressing rapidly and, God willing, it will be completed on time. He added that efforts are underway to reduce traffic congestion and provide better facilities to citizens.

The visit highlighted the government’s focus on improving infrastructure and ensuring better urban planning for the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Latest Update about Faizabad Interchange

The latest update about the Faizabad interchange is the decision to increase the radius of the loops to handle traffic which will cost Rs. 200 million for which the mobility of machinery and resources have been started. The project will help handle the traffic issues between the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
